To continue a very proactive week for Toronto Blue Jays manager Alex Anthopoulos, the baseball club has reportedly signed outfielder Melky Cabrera to a two-year $16M contract.
As a member of the San Francisco Giants last season, Cabrera was a candidate for National League MVP before being suspended for 50 games by Major League Baseball for an elevated testosterone level. The sometimes unpredictable Cabrera joins his fifth team of his eight-year career and the forth in the past two years.
The news comes days after Anthopoulos made a blockbuster, 12-player deal with the Miami Marlins on Tuesday. Both transactions are still pending, but it seems the Blue Jays have quickly become contenders in a very competitive American League east.
